The School of Computing and Informatics at Arizona State University is home to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the Department of Biomedical Informatics. The CSE department offers undergraduate degrees in computer science and computer systems engineering and graduate degrees in computer science. The BMI department offers a master of science degree and will offer a Ph.D. in fall 2008. Graduate students in CSE are eligible to pursue a concentrations in biomedical informatics, information assurance, and arts, media, and engineering. The school also offers an undergraduate certificate in Informatics.
The school supports the evolution of computing and informatics as discrete disciplines, and responds to the need for partnership and collaboration between computer and information sciences and a broad range of disciplinary areas at ASU. This integration of computer and information sciences with other academic disciplines such as geography, anthropology, public health, urban planning and biology will provide an academic structure to foster new knowledge. Computing is integral to many other fields, including bioinformatics.
