Dear CSE Alumni,

As the Assistant Director of Academic Services for the newly formed School of Computing and Informatics (SCI) which houses the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, I wanted to let you know about some exciting things happening in SCI.  Your participation can help not only to attract strong students into our programs but also to build top notch programs within the School, strengthening the value of the degree you have earned.

• Be a Student Mentor. Many of you benefited from industry mentors as students, and becoming active in the CSE alumni community can provide you with the opportunity to mentor current students through their participation in capstone projects, internships, and more.
• Be a Guest Speaker. Each semester the department hosts a series of panel discussions for alumni. These discussions are essential to help students understand the industry and plan their careers after graduation. Your experience can help students understand what to expect from their first job and how to continue to progress after they leave the University.
• Attend Events. The department hosts a job fair each semester. Your employer can meet and interview dozens of well-qualified students who are about to graduate and are eager to find their first full-time job in the industry, along with other students who are looking for part-time or internships.
• Participate in Alumni Networking. The best way to hire a qualified candidate for an open position within your company or find a new job yourself is to use your personal network of professional contacts. ASU CSE alumni are working for some of the best companies in the world, and the department can put this alumni network to work for you.
• Give Input into Curriculum Development.  You can provide us with information about the skill sets students will need to be successful in today’s workforce.
• Give Needed Feedback.  Are we meeting our long-term goals as a department and a college?  One of the best ways to make this determination is to talk to our graduates.

You can give us some immediate help by filling out our online survey. This survey will allow you to provide some constructive feedback about the program when you were a student explaining how it has helped you in your present position in industry or graduate school.  It will also let us know in what ways we can better stay in touch with you.
