Internship Program

This program is designed to provide undergraduate students work experience in relevant industry and related sectors that provides the intern direct exposure to real world professional activities, enhances the student’s personal and professional skills, and increases the likelihood of professional employment opportunities for students in their field. In addition, students gain experience in resume development and how to prepare for and conduct themselves in a professional interview.

The company:

  • Assigns a company mentor who assumes responsibility for working with the faculty mentor to develop the intern’s goals and objectives.
  • Assures the availability of appropriate learning experiences that will enrich the overall educational preparation of the intern.
  • Provides the intern with the physical facilities and equipment necessary to support the educational experience.

The School of Computing and Informatics:

  • Provides the company with a short-list of students who meet their criteria, and will arrange a location to interview if necessary.
  • Maintains regular contact with the company mentor and the student intern through weekly/monthly reports.
  • Provides a course instructor to monitor student progress and assign a class grade.

"In our experience, students enjoy learning more if their learning is focused on applied projects, and their motivation is further enhanced when there is a real customer need and an industry mentor involved."
