Catalog Description
CSE 484: Structured practical experience following a contract or plan, supervised by faculty and practitioners.
Course Mission
This course is designed to provide CSE undergraduate students an industrial internship experience in relevant industry and related sectors that (a) provides the intern direct exposure to real world professional activities, (b) enhances their personal and professional skills, and (c) increases the likelihood of professional employment opportunities in their major. In addition, students gain experience in resume development, how to prepare for and conduct themselves in a professional interview by company representatives, and are better prepared to enter their chosen profession. This course is designed to give CSE students a real world industrial design experience in computer science industries.

Students are chosen on a competitive basis and internships are not guaranteed.

Employers: How to Participate
The company is responsible for specifying desired qualifications for a particular position. Interviews with students are conducted by the company and may be held either on the ASU campus or at a location specified by the company. The company will select the intern from a pool of qualified applicants. Once an intern is selected, the company fulfilling the internship contract agreement and requirements.

The Consortium for Embedded Systems (CES), housed in the Fulton School of Engineering, involves the partnership of universities and technology businesses working together to build a body of knowledge and expertise in the area of embedded systems. The center funds research projects to extend the reach of embedded systems applications into new markets and to broaden the depth of existing applications.
The scope of projects undertaken by Fulton School researchers in the area of embedded systems include 1) methodologies to improve the design quality and reduce the cycle time of embedded systems; 2) innovative system-level techniques for composition, packaging, synthesis and optimization of hardware and/or software components of embedded system; 3) new techniques and tools for analyzing embedded system performance evaluations, including testing, verification and design techniques for building high-assurance and fail-safe systems; and 4) real-time resource management and optimization of physical and computational resources in embedded systems.
The program provides employment opportunities for undergraduate B.S.E. Computer Systems Engineering students while providing them with academic credit towards their BSE degree. Students are compensated from industry members for their efforts, and gain critical real-world experience in productive work environments on relevant projects without interrupting their education.
